Primeval Gardens Paulownias
WHO WE ARE

Primeval Gardens is a small family owned business, owned and operated by Iris and Jason Gardner. Our love for growing things and desire to be a part of cleaning up our planet lead us to the Paulownia tree, which we immediately fell in love with and soon launched our own business growing, selling and promoting these amazingly fast growing and environmentally beneficial  trees.

2009 has brought about some exciting changes for us. In January we purchased 18 acres of land with an old farm house in Potrero, Ca. We had been looking for acreage for a while, trying to find just the right place to expand Primeval Gardens and have plenty of room for our 5 horses, pig, chickens, golden pheasants and large tortoise. Potrero fit the bill and was within commuting distance to the military base where Jason works. Jason is active duty military, with multiple tours to Iraq, so when he is home he relaxes by turning the compost pile and planting trees, while our horses lean over the fence to watch.

We started by renovating the old farmhouse, which of course turned out to be a much larger job than we had anticipated. We purchased several dozen fruit trees, and picked out a spot for our large organic garden. Next came the planting of the Paulownia trees. We were delighted to discover that our property has good soil, free of rocks and hard clay, which made digging all the holes a much less daunting task.
We have put over 30  Paulownia trees in the ground so far, which should be a nice start on our Paulownia forest. We would like to be able to look out and see our horses munching on the grass and fallen leaves beneath the shade of the Paulownia trees. We plan to get some bee hives once the trees begin to flower, and get started making some of our own Paulownia honey.

Jason will be deployed all summer, so Iris will be at the farm full time, running the business, growing trees, and tending the animals. Hopefully the next couple of years should see us well established at our new place.
